Space Bomber All Clear World 1

Space Bomber is a parody type shmup produced by Psikyo. The storyline is pretty bizarre, and involves Bill Clinton fighting off invading aliens.

Your fighter has a space invaders type shot and a grapple hook for capturing enemies to use as powers or bombs. Scoring involves bombing multiple enemies at once for mad points. There’s no bullet clearing or invincibility granting weapons like those found in the standard shmup though, save for the turtle and armadillo powers.

World 1 is very easy like the first stage of most shmups. The overall difficulty of this game isn’t very high, but it should definitely not be underestimated.

Genetos: Stage 1-3 (Trial Version)

OKAY, I’M FINALLY BACK GUYS.

i don’t know why it’s taken me so long to record and post something (almost four months) but hopefully i will be able to get some sort of run going, like i had just before i stopped posting. i have to admit, i feel quite surprised to see that my account broke 50 subscribers while i was away, but it’s awesome all the same.

anyway, this is a game i’ve wanted to record for a little while now, even though it’s just a demo. i also needed something to test out fraps (which i have decided not to switch over to, just because of the amount of hassle it takes to get a video ready for upload compared to growler guncam, despite the pleasing results) so it seemed like a brilliant game to test.

genetos is a 2d shooter where you level up and evolve your ship and the world around you by killing enemies and collecting the blue and green circles they drop to fill up an “experience guage” of sorts, which upgrades your ship to something a little stronger and makes the world around you become a little more difficult as well. i think it’s a very interesting concept for a shooter and hope the full version of the game is just as impressive.

i feel like posting more of this kind of stuff, but i really don’t know — i love this style of game, but i don’t think i’m much good at them, so i feel kind of torn. let me know if you’d like to see more of this thing!

Armada – Sega Dreamcast shmup/RPG hybrid

This is some gameplay footage from Armada, a Dreamcast shmup/RPG hybrid made by Metro3d.

It’s early in the game, so my character is not a very high level yet. I wander to a boss who is still too powerful to defeat, then head to an enemy infested town who are much higher levels than I am, and get properly wasted.

Armada is a shmup at it’s core, but has the most RPG elements I’ve seen in a hybrid game so far. You can level up, buy items, talk to characters, form teams (4 players local plus NPCs), and go on quests.

Armada is an interesting concept, and would be great for current generation consoles with online functions.
